2022 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

HMP Update Overview

Disasters can cause loss of life; damage buildings and infrastructure; and have devastating consequences for a community’s economic, social, and environmental well-being. Hazard mitigation reduces disaster damages and is defined as sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from hazards.

FEMA requires a Hazard Mitigation Plan to be updated every five years. The City of Texarkana, Texas Office of Emergency Management is working to update the 2022 Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP).

Residents, neighboring communities, businesses and stakeholders are invited to participate in the Plan update and public comments are needed and encouraged. Please reach out to TTFD-OEM@txkusa.org if you have any questions or comments feel free to call 903-798-3043.

The HMP Update is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
